This book was previously published by the same title. While I have made minor revisions and given it a beautiful new cover and fresh edits, the story remains a spicy, sensual tale filled with all sorts of dallying, frolicking and even a hint of debauchery. And very little of the fun takes place behind closed doors.

This second book in the Idyllwild series is another hit by Lynne Barron. While it wasn't as amazing as the first one was, I found it very entertaining and enjoyable. I love how complex her characters are, and how many facets they have to their personalities. Her women are especially wonderful and have an undeniable wild streak that is fun to see unfold. Olivia fits this description to a tee. I loved how funny she was and the ringside seat to her journey of coming into her own. Jack was a tough character with a heart of gold. The secrets of the past that effect both Olivia and Jack are slowly revealed. I liked that the plot was not predictable and there were times when I had no idea where it was headed. Be ready for lots of explicit steamy passion. I am eager to read the next book in this series.Product details

The Widow’s Wicked Wish by Lynne Barron is the second book in the Idyllwild series. However, everything you need to know from book one is explained in this novel so if you don’t read the first novel, I don’t believe it will cause any issues in understanding this one.
Olivia is a countess and also a widow. She was in a cold marriage with her deceased husband. And in that marriage Olivia was forced to play the perfect wife. But now that she is a widow, she no longer has to play the perfect wife, or does she?
Jack Bentley is a wealthy merchant. He also believes his life is ruined. However, once he sees Olivia and sees that she is no longer bond to a marriage, he wants to take her as his wife. But will she want to? Or will Jack be heartbroken?
Olivia escapes to Idyllwild. And Jack ends up getting caught up in a storm and ends up in Idyllwild as well. Olivia and Jack end up becoming lovers which is all Olivia wants, but Jack wants more. So how long will he play this little game?Jack wants to marry Olivia, yet Olivia isn’t necessarily fond of that idea.
However, when Jack and Olivia get caught, she must marry him. The problem is that marriage takes away her carefree attitude and Jack wants the old Olivia back. Will the Olivia he fell in love with come back? Or is she gone for good?
Lynne Barron is a good writer; especially when it comes to historical romance. And this book really shows off her talent when it comes to historical fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, I would recommend this book for mature readers.
It took me quite a while to read this book, but now that I did, I regret not having read it before.
The plot brings two people in love, still young, but who had their happiness ripped off by the hands of other people.
Olivia was raised to be the good girl, good daughter and good wife, and after having her heart broken when she saw the man she loved in the arms of another woman, she decided she should follow what her father wanted from her.
Jack was in love with Olivia, but was caught in a stratagem of a young woman, which led him to have to marry her.
The years passed and both Jack and Olivia were alone again, each with children.
Jack decided that after Olivia's mourning period, it was time for him to go to London and seduce her, but fate wanted that they would find themselves in the same place, trapped by a storm.
There, time would stop and they could relive the love of the past as if time had not passed, and Olivia discovered what it was to be loved by someone else, besides the pleasures in bed.
But sometimes life seems to repeat itself and again the couple might have to separate.
Who would take the first step to prevent their love from being smothered once more?
A story with encounters and mismatches, traps, falsehoods, lies and discoveries, all to find true love.
Brilliant plot.

Unlike the first book there was a certain feel of absolutely being in a historical time period. There was the strictures put upon sweet Olivia. I fell in love with her from the very beginning. I could empathize with her right from the start. Olivia stifled who she was to be the perfect wife, mother, countess. She did not have the chance to live and be her, that was until her husband's death. Olivia finds much freedom in her late husbands death/disgrace.
Jack comes back in to Olivia's life after what could be classified as a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding that set Olivia into the arms, bed and life of another. Jacks does not quite see things that way. He sees things as Olivia betraying him and of course being a man. He wants a bit of revenge or would you call it that when the both want the same thing to a point. They say watch what you wish for.
Olivia finds comfort and freedom in her short entanglement with Jack. That was her opening for her freedom, until something changes everything and she finds herself married again. Up goes the mask and locked behind a door goes the freedom she so desperately wanted.
Ms. Barron gave me another sizzzling hot, sexy steammmy historical romance with great characters, and second chance to live life, to have real love, and to get to know one's self.
This was such a great story. I love Olivia and the way that she mixed up cliche lol just to funny. I love happily ever after's. Now on to Henry's story. This is a definitely must read series. Happy Reading All. 😀😀😀😀🙌🙌🙌🙌
Lynne always has very thought out stories. This book was somewhat of a disappointment as she filled it with to many pages of sex information. I am hoping that in book 3 she will have gone back to a story like in book 1with just the right amount of sex to keep it interesting and not overdue it.
Oh where oh where are these wonderful men in my life! Another enchanting, racy, sublimely Romantic novel. I just purchased #3, and wish I weren't such a fast reader so the deliciousness would last longer.
